Listening to jazz on the radio

At the beginning of the 70s, Karel Appel experimented New York lifestyle and like many artists before him, he enjoyed the American music and in particular jazz music.

Feeling anonymous in Manhattan, Appel took advantage of the street life, the frantic rhythms that were born there to tint his art of a concrete inspiration whose image remains explosive on his canvases.

On the occasion of the exhibition Karel Appel, L'art est une fête!, the Jazz department of Paris Conservatory, will present a very colorful and very festive concert thanks to the rhythms of the big band Jazz of Dizzy Gillespie and compositions by Line Kruse (under his direction) among others.
